Everything about the legendary MTB race in South Tyrol

Dolomiti Superbike is considered to be one of the most impressive scenic and at the same time toughest MTB races in South Tyrol and throughout Europe. Roughly 4,500 pros and amateur mountain bikers go on a pilgrimage in July year after year to tranquil Villabassa/Niederdorf for a sporty biking holiday in South Tyrol and transform the village and the entire Val Pusteria/Pustertal into THE hotspot for mountain bikers and bikers in the Dolomites and the Alps for a few days. 

The programme for the coolest MTB race in South Tyrol

Thursday

  • 4 p.m.: Start of the festival and issuing of race numbers
  • 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Expo & Tech Area at the start and finish area in Villabassa/Niederdorf

Friday

  • 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Expo & Tech Area at the start and finish area in Villabassa/Niederdorf
  • 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Issue of race numbers for Hobby and Master categories 
  • 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Issue of race numbers for Elite, U23 Men/Women categories
  • 5.30 pm: Team Managers meeting
  • 6.30 pm: Press conference

Saturday

  • 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.: Issue of race numbers 
  • 7.30 a.m.: Start 28th Südtirol Dolomiti Superbike
  • 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Expo & Tech Area at the start and finish area in Villabassa/Niederdorf
  • Approx. 9.30 a.m.: Arrival of the fastest over the 60 km distance with Flower Ceremony afterwards
  • Approx. 12 noon: Arrival of the winner of the 123 km distance with Flower Ceremony afterwards
  • Approx. 3 p.m.: Master category prizes can be taken in the town hall
  • Approx. 3 p.m.: RIDERS AFTER PARTY BY FIZIK & LEE COUGAN (EXPO AREA)
  • Approx. 4 p.m.: Presentation ceremony at the start/finish area
  • 2 p.m.: Awarding of prizes to winners of the individual categories

 

 

Sunday

Junior Trophy

  • 8 a.m.: Issue of race numbers for kids
  • 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.: Registration for the Junior Trophy in the main square
  • 10 a.m.: Start of Junior Trophy
  • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: musical entertainment
  • 1 p.m.: Presentation ceremony for Junior Trophy

Allocation of race numbers for the MTB marathon in the Dolomites

The following criteria are taken into account for the starting line-up and allocation of race numbers:

a) The Dolomiti Superbike results in  2022, 2021 and 2019

  • Long distance Top 100 rankings (Elite and U23 and Juniors are not taken into account)
  • Short distance°Top 100 rankings

b) Your results in the last 5 Superbike races
c) When the online registration is received. (In the event of the same registration date, regular entrants in Dolomiti Superbike are given preferential treatment.)

START TIME FOR ALL DISTANCES: 7.30 a.m.

  • Block 1 start time 7.30 a.m.
  • Block 2 start time 7.40 a.m.
  • Block 3 start time 7.50 a.m.
  • Block 4 start time 8.00 a.m.

    There is a special rule for WOMEN: All women start with a pink race number and they can choose their starting block;

Dolomites MTB marathon ratings categories

There are 49 ratings categories for Dolomiti Superbike. The categories are broken down according to gender, date of birth, licensed cyclists (Master category) or cyclists without a licence (Hobby category). 

The most important rules for the MTB race in South Tyrol

  • Participation in the South Tyrol Dolomiti Superbike is at your own risk. The organisers do not assume any liability.
  • The minimum age for entry to the bike race in South Tyrol is 16 years old.
  • Helmets are mandatory during the entire race for the protection of participants.
  • The mountain biker's equipment and clothing must be suitable for High Alpine conditions and withstand sudden changes in weather.
  • Every athlete in the Hobby category must bring a doctor’s certificate to confirm their physical fitness when they collect their race number.
  • Participants who start in the wrong starting block will be disqualified.
  • Slower mountain bikers have to immediately clear the way for others wishing to overtake.
  • The disposal of any rubbish outside the marked refreshment zones leads to disqualification.
  • Protests must be submitted to the jury in writing within 15 minutes of the end of the race at the latest with a protest fee of €50.00.
  • Participants who exceed the time limit during the MTB race in South Tyrol will be removed from the race for safety reasons.
  • The road traffic regulations and the FCI rules must be observed during Dolomiti Superbike.
  • Time recording is carried out by DATASPORT. Real time is measured.
  • If the event cannot take place due to extraordinary circumstances the starting fee will not be reimbursed.
  • The organisers reserve the right to change the course and rules at any time.
  • Credit can only be transferred for one year.
